Drop-in BJJ in Lisbon: what to expect as a visitor
Visiting Lisbon and want to train BJJ or no-gi grappling? Here is what a drop-in looks like at Grapplers Collective — schedule, price, etiquette, and how to book.
If you are in Lisbon for a few days or a few weeks and want to train, you are welcome to drop in. We get visitors every month — digital nomads, competitors passing through, people on holiday who want to keep their routine. The room is set up for it. Here is everything you need to know.
The basics
- Price: €10 per session, cash or card at the gym.
- Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday at 19:00 (one-hour class).
- Style: No-gi grappling. No kimono needed.
- Language: English. Instructor is multilingual — Portuguese also works.
- Location: R. de Campolide 165, Lisboa. ~15 min from central Lisbon.
How to book
Send us a WhatsApp message a day in advance, or earlier if you want to lock in your dates. We answer within a few hours. Tell us:
- Which day(s) you want to train.
- Roughly your experience level (none, hobbyist, competitor — anything is fine).
- Anything we should know (injuries, time you arrive in Lisbon, etc).
What to bring
- Shorts and a rash guard or t-shirt (no zips or pockets).
- Flip-flops for off-mat.
- Water, a small towel, €10.
What to expect on the mat
A short warm-up, then training games — short live rounds with clear constraints, usually 2–4 minutes each, scaled to your level. Most sessions end with a few rounds of open rolling for whoever wants it. If you are visiting just to train and travel, you can spar; if you are sightseeing all day and just want technique, that works too. Tell the instructor what you are after.
Etiquette in a visiting room
- Be on time. The class is one hour and we use it.
- No need to bring a gift, sticker, or patch.
- If you tap, your partner stops. If your partner taps, you stop. That is the rule.
- Say hi to people. Most regulars want to roll with visitors.

FAQ
Can I buy a multi-day pass instead of paying per session?
For week-long visits we can offer a short pass — message us with your dates. For longer stays we have monthly plans.
I am a brown / black belt — is the level high enough?
Yes. The room mixes experienced grapplers and beginners; rolling partners scale. If you compete, message us and we will pair you accordingly.
How do I get to Campolide from central Lisbon?
The metro Blue Line stops at Praça de Espanha (5 min walk). Buses 701, 723, 758 also serve the area. Uber/Bolt from Baixa is around €6–8.
