Perform better in live rounds: the free monthly Open Seminar in Lisbon
A free monthly no-gi Open Seminar in Lisbon for grapplers who already train. 90 minutes of our game-based method, focused on performing better in live rounds.
You have moves. You have drilled them, watched the breakdowns, learned the names. Then a live round starts and half of it disappears the second your partner actually fights back. If that sounds familiar, the Open Seminar is built for you.
Once a month we run a free Open Seminar in Lisbon — 90 minutes inside the method we train every week, aimed at one thing: making what you already know work in live rounds. It is genuinely free, there is no upsell and no pitch to join the gym, and it is for people who already train.
Who it is for
It is for adults who already train and want to get better in live rounds. Any belt, gi or no-gi — if you train, it is for you. You will get the most out of it if any of these sound like you:
- You know moves but cannot use them when someone resists.
- You freeze or hesitate in live rounds.
- You drill a lot, but it does not show up when you roll.
- You have stalled — same rounds, same results.
Who it is not for
Two honest caveats. This is not a beginners’ intro — it assumes you already roll. If you have never grappled, start with a free first class instead, where the room is set up to bring you in from zero, and come to the seminar once you are training. And it is not an open mat: there is open rolling, but the session is led, with a focus and coaching behind it, not just turn-up-and-spar. You do not need no-gi experience, though — gi or no-gi you will be fine, and the session itself is no-gi.
What you will walk away with
- Moves that hold up when someone resists.
- Better decisions in the middle of a live round.
- Training that carries over to real rolling, not just drilling.
- A clear idea of what to work on next.
The method, briefly
The session runs on a game-based method — sometimes called ecological. Instead of memorizing sequences, you play live games that force you to solve problems against a resisting partner. That is what makes it carry over: you are training the actual skill of reading a position and choosing well under pressure, not rehearsing a move that a compliant partner lets you finish.
How a session runs
- 90 minutes, live. The same game-based training we run every week — live games and real reps, not a long technique lecture.
- Coaching on your decisions. We work on the choices you make while rolling, not just the finish.
- Optional 30-minute Q&A. Stay after to ask anything — about the method, your own game, or how we train week to week.

Why drilling doesn't transfer (and what we do instead)
You drill an armbar fifty times. It feels clean. Then you roll, and it never happens. Here's the short, science-backed explanation — and what we do instead.
